Please be aware this template only works with Ensign and not other charting software. By using this template your charts will look exactly the same as Trader Rick’s. Simply download and drop the file into your Ensign Template folder, typically found at C:\Ensign\Template

There are a few more things you need to change within Ensign to make everything work together harmoniously, please fellow the instructions below…

On your chart you need to go in to chart properties and make some changes;

7 bar spacing in pixels
12 right margin in pixels
10 candle max width
1 candle minimum spacing
Under grid style… uncheck dots
Under bar style make sure you check No Frame

For each product we list 3-5 timeframes, moving upwards in multiples of three. This is to aid our multiple timeframe decision making as addressed in our training library videos.

Keep in mind that market conditions may result in a change of timeframes. Note that in each market charted we use a minute chart as well as either a tick or volume chart. Minute charts reflect candlestick patterns better than tick or volume charts and it is important to be able to check a 15 minute or a 60 minute chart during the trading session. Depending on your workspace we recommend using a single minute chart that can be toggled to view other timeframes.

I personally have my minute chart setup so I can use my numeric keypad to quickly view a 2/3/5/9/15/30 and 60 minute chart. For the index markets I use primarily the 5 and 15 minute charts and will also look at the 60 minute chart during the trading session to keep an eye on the larger timeframe. For crude, gold, beans I will use combinations of 3/9 and 5/15/60 minute charts. For the two treasury markets I like the 15/60 minute charts. For the grains I prefer the 5/15 minute charts.
